Eagles vs. Vikings Game Resolution

Here’s the text of the email we sent out a few minutes ago to all players who lost contests because they didn’t receive points for Eagles or Vikings players in their lineups. A slightly different email was sent shortly afterward to anyone who has been active on Fanduel during the past two months.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your patience over the last few days as we have worked
towards a resolution regarding the weekend’s MIN@PHI postponement. We
appreciate the input we’ve had since my last email, and have arrived
at what we feel is a fair conclusion.

Firstly, to maintain the integrity of the site, we have adhered to the
rule as written and paid out wins for users while scoring all Vikings
and Eagles players as zero.

Secondly, we recognize that the postponement rule for NFL as written
did not meet people’s expectations and have revised it for future
weeks to include postponed games as long as they are played by the
following Wednesday (full text below).

Thirdly, to make up for the poor experience of users who had Vikings
and Eagles players, we are also paying out a bonus equivalent to the
wins as if those players had counted. So, if you would have won had
Tuesday’s game counted you will receive the same amount of cash. This
is an expense to us. Our commitment is that all users have a great
experience on FanDuel and we felt, in this instance, this was the only
fair solution.

This situation was caused by an NFL game getting postponed to Tuesday,
something that last happened 64 years ago. We hope the way we have
dealt with these exceptional circumstances gives you confidence in the
responsiveness and integrity of the site. We look forward to
continuing to provide you with great NFL action this coming weekend,
during the post season, and throughout the 2011 NFL season.

Kind regards and Happy New Year,
Tom Griffiths

New rules on postponements:

For NFL contests, you will receive points for any postponed games that
are played no later than Wednesday of that week.

For one day MLB contests, if the postponed game is played on the same
day then you will receive points for your players in those games as
normal. If a game is postponed to a later date or called off for any
reason, any players you have selected for that game will receive zero
points.

For one day NBA and NHL contests, you will receive points for any
postponed games that are played no later than the next day.

For any NBA, MLB, and NHL contests that are scheduled to include games
from multiple days (such as some playoff contests), you will receive
points for any games that are played no later than the day after the
last game scheduled as part of the contest.

If game cancellations and/or postponements mean there is only one game
left in a contest, then the contest will be canceled and all entry
fees will be refunded.

NOTE: A game will be considered to be ‘played’ on a given day if it
begins on that day and is completed no later than 6am Eastern on the
following day.

All users who entered Eagles vs. Vikings game will be emailed on Wednesday

We realize many people were affected by choosing players in the Eagles vs. Vikings game who were not familiar with our rules on postponed games. We are currently discussing how we can achieve a more positive result for negatively affected entries. Emails will go out to every affected player on Wednesday.

Details on the Vikings vs. Eagles game

As I’m sure many of you now know, the Vikings vs. Eagles game was shifted from Sunday night to Tuesday evening due to weather concerns. The game was officially changed today at 12:30pm EST and we did what we could to alert people to this postponement. We realize this left people with not much time to change their lineups (or if you played in a league that included the Thursday and Saturday games, you could not make any changes). Here are FanDuel’s official rules on canceled or shifted games from FanDuel’s FAQ page.

If the game is postponed but happens on the same day (for NBA, MLB & NHL or within the game period for NFL) then you will receive points for your players in those games as normal. If a game is postponed to a later date or called off for any reason, any players you have selected for that game will receive zero points. Be sure to check out the schedules (NFL schedule, MLB schedule NBA schedule and the NHL schedule) before you pick players. If game cancellations and/or postponements mean there is only one game left on a particular day, that day’s FanDuel game will be canceled and all entry fees will be refunded.

While we have gotten requests to allow the Tuesday game for scoring purposes, the problem is that we cannot do this. This is because while some people did not make their lineup changes in time, many other people did. If we allow the Tuesday game to be included for scoring purposes, everyone who redid their lineups early this afternoon will have a legitimate complaint, since they followed the postponement rules.

Despite the postponement by the NFL, we must stick by the rules we have created to maintain the fairness of FanDuel’s games.

Win some gold, frankinsense and myrrh this weekend from NFL contests. But mostly gold.

All right everyone. By now you’ve opened up all your presents, have eaten half your body weight, and have probably watched at least two NBA games. Aside from avoiding your family to play Black Ops, what else is there to do? Make boatloads of Christmas cash, son.

Yep, FanDuel has $13,500 in prizes up for grabs this weekend in Sunday NFL contests. Did I say $13,500? Dang, I did. That’s a hell of a lot of money.

First up is the uncapped $5000 NFL Blitz league, only $10 to join. Next is the $6000 NFL Bomb league, which has a cap of 264 entrants and is $25 to join, so hurry up and get on that. Last is the always awesome $2500 NFL Elite league, which is $50 to join and has a cap of 55 entrants.

So hop to it, and gain some extra income for the old post-Christmas shopping spree.

Get in on the $2500 Wednesday NBA Slam Contest

If you’re like me, you’ve probably done no Christmas shopping. Nothing wrong with that though. In fact, it’s good you haven’t done your shopping yet. That’s because today you can win some serious money playing in the $2500 Wednesday NBA Slam contest on FanDuel. Only $10 to enter. Cash prizes start at $600 for 1st place and go all the way down to 18th place.

Obviously, I advise you to use the extra scratch you make from the contest on Christmas gifts for friends and family. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas? Well then buy a gold chain that says “Fantasy Master.”

So get playing now, my friends. After all, playing fantasy beats doing sucktastic holiday chores.

(Yes, I know Brandon Jennings is injured, but you have to love a guy with “Young Money” tattooed on his back)

Two more big leagues this weekend: $2000 Elite NFL League, $1000 NHL Shootout

All right everyone, we have two more big time leagues this weekend at FanDuel. First is the high-roller $2000 NFL Elite League. $100 entry, but it’s a capped league, so only 22 people can play in it. That significantly increases your chance of taking home one of the 3 top prizes. $1000 for first, $600 for second, $400 for third. This league needs at least 18 people playing in it to go live though, so tell your friends.

Next up we have the $1000 Saturday NHL Shootout. This league is only $10 to join, and there are prizes all the way down to 9th place. This league is also capped at 115 entries, so tell your friends that they better hurry to get a seat.

There is a ton of prize money out there this weekend, so good luck to everyone this weekend.
