FanDuel Fantasy Football Champion Finalist

What a cutie (and the baby's sweet too)

If you’re a regular at FanDuel, you will have noticed a player called “generalv” around the site.  His real name is Joe V. and he’s super excited to have just won the 10th seat in the Vegas final of the FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship 2010.

With a brand new baby daughter on the scene, Joe doesn’t have as much time to spend on fantasy sports as he’d like to, but he’s finding the daily aspect of FanDuel pretty darn sweet. Here’s what he had to say when we spoke to him about his win.

Name: Joe V

Age: 32

Location: Pennsylvania

Family: Wife and 12 week old baby girl

Occupation:  Operations Manager

So, you won! You must be so pleased! How did it feel?

Oh, it was so exciting. I followed the live scoring real closely on Monday with my wife and our baby girl. I was sitting at around 123rd on Monday morning but I had a good feeling about it. After the first touchdown pass, I moved to 23rd. The next drive I was on the phone with my dad and Vicks ran one in – and I jumped up to 10th.

What did your family say when you told them about your win?

My wife was super excited. I’ve been telling her for weeks that I want to be part of it, that I wanted to go to Vegas, and now I am.

What was your winning formula?

Having Michael Vicks and Desean Jackson definitely helped. It was their pass during the first play of the game that moved me up the leaderboard. Once I was in the top 10, I could see who was ahead of me and I knew there was only one person in the top ten who could have won apart from me.

I don’t have a system, I’m not a spreadsheet kind of a guy. I hate that stuff. I just try to project how it will play out.

Have you won anything like this in the past?

No, never. I only started playing daily games this year, other than that I just play in low level leagues.

Other than winning, what was the best thing about FanDuel?

I just love the daily aspect. Playing a game in one day and getting paid in one day is just awesome.

How did you find out about FanDuel?

A friend of mine told me about it back in June, and I knew I just had to try it out. I’ve tried playing on other daily fantasy sites, but I’ve really found my home here.

Have you been to Las Vegas before?

Yes, a few times but only on business. I’m bringing a buddy with me to Vegas, but despite that I’m still viewing it very much as a business trip. I’m there to win the money. I would have loved to have brought my wife, but she’ll have to stay home with our baby.

If you won the $25,000 in the Grand Final, what would you spend it on?

Do you know, I’m not even thinking about it. I’m just focusing on creating the best possible team. I’m not going to start spending money I don’t have yet.
